Meet the Founder
Gemma Gallant, Founder of The Independent Safeguarding Consultancy
Gemma Gallant is the founder of The Independent Safeguarding Consultancy and a former police detective with over 20 years’ experience investigating serious and complex offences. Throughout her career, she worked on hundreds of cases involving serious and complex crime and has a deep understanding of victim psychology and trauma-informed interviewing, managing investigations from first disclosure through to Crown Court.
Her work was always driven by one purpose: preventing violence against women, girls and the vulnerable. As a White Ribbon UK Advocate and a mother of two teenage boys, Gemma is committed to education that protects women and girls while also preventing young men from making mistakes that can follow them for life. Her work and passion is focused on building safer cultures and environments .
Over time, Gemma identified a pattern that policing alone could not solve. At the point of arrest or investigation, reputations were already destroyed, victims were already harmed and organisations were already in crisis. Again and again, she saw that earlier education — around consent, boundaries, power dynamics and criminal consequences — could have changed the outcome for everyone involved.
Drawing on her unique combination of investigative authority, safeguarding expertise and real-world case experience, Gemma founded The Independent Safeguarding Consultancy to help organisations act before harm occurs. She developed the Safeguarding Intelligence Method™ to provide comprehensive, trauma-informed education that goes beyond compliance and delivers genuine protection that stands up to scrutiny.
